Following the destruction of the Akai squad, the Gauna approaches Sidonia, prompting Captain Kobayashi to execute a level 5 diagonal acceleration. This evasive action results in severe casualties within the residential sector. As the Gauna reorients its attack, Kobayashi deploys guardians and assigns Kunato, Shizuka, En Honoka, and Nagate to recover the Kabizashi weapon from the fallen squad. Upon retrieval, Gauna 487 targets the team with a Heigus particle cannon, disabling all units except Nagate’s Tsugumori. When Shizuka’s unit malfunctions, she ejects, leaving Nagate to disobey towing orders. He instead engages the Gauna directly with the Kabizashi, destroying it effortlessly. While others celebrate, Nagate ignores warnings and departs to rescue Shizuka, moving beyond Sidonia’s reach.
