While the inhabitants of planet Hydo express gratitude to Sonic and his companions for their victory over the Metarex, Dr. Eggman attempts to deceive Knuckles and seize a Chaos Emerald. Before he can succeed, a Metarex resembling a frog intercepts the gem and consumes it. The heroes must now act quickly to stop this new threat from stealing the Planet Egg, ensuring that their previous efforts to protect the world are not undone by this unexpected interference.
