Ep. 5: Soul Shape: Does Meister Stein Enter as the Ultimate Power?

Maka, Soul, Black Star, and Tsubaki confront Dr. Stein, who demonstrates superior combat skills and nearly defeats Black Star. After Black Star falls, Maka uses her soul perception to witness Stein’s immense power, causing her to despair at the gap between their abilities. Soul encourages her to continue, and the pair achieve perfect Soul Resonance, yet this proves insufficient against their opponent. Following the battle, Stein discloses that Lord Death orchestrated the encounter as a test for the remedial class, which they successfully pass. Subsequently, Stein assumes the role of a new teacher at the DWMA, a development that deeply disappoints the student body.
