Ep. 23: Suzuha guides Okabe to prevent Kurisu's death in a world line free of World War III.
On the roof where Kurisu died, Suzuha explains her mission to reach the Steins Gate world line, where World War III is avoided. Okabe reluctantly travels back in time with her to the moment before Kurisu's death. He witnesses the events unfold, encountering Kurisu and hiding in the room where she is stabbed. There, she meets her father, Doctor Nakabachi, who tries to steal her time travel theory. Okabe attempts to save her but accidentally stabs her himself, allowing Nakabachi to escape with the theory to Russia, leading to an arms race and World War III. Back in the present, Okabe despairs and refuses Suzuha's offer to try again. Mayuri slaps him, reminding him not to give up. Suzuha reveals the first attempt was meant to fail so Okabe could view a scrambled video message from his future self, which explains how to save Kurisu without causing a paradox.
