Kirito and Sinon reach the General Governor's Office to register for the Battle of Bullet tournament. Kirito leaves his real-life details blank, resulting in placement in the same block as Sinon, allowing both to advance to the finals via the ladder system. A preliminary qualifying round precedes the main event, where Kirito promises Sinon a fair fight if they meet. An embarrassing incident in the changing room leads Kirito to reveal his gender, creating tension between them. Sinon insists he reach the finals so she can defeat him, declaring her intent to eliminate strong players, which briefly makes Kirito suspect her of being Death Gun. They later encounter Kyouji in his Spiegel avatar. In his first battle, Kirito struggles initially but wins using his Photon Sword. Back in the waiting area, he confronts Death Gun, who questions if he is the real deal. Kirito notices a tattoo on Death Gun's wrist, identifying it as the mark of the Laughing Coffin guild from Sword Art Online.
