Seeking the Forest of Statues, the group builds a raft and travels down a river ending in a perilous waterfall. After surviving the drop, they locate the forest and a secret cave behind the falls that leads to the third city of the Serpent God. Inside, Tao attempts to translate hieroglyphics but grows frustrated as the text appears nonsensical. Esteban observes that Tao's wet manuscripts reveal hidden symbols, uncovering a message about a city of gold located beyond a mountain named The Burning Shield. The episode also features a mini-documentary segment focusing on Maya astronomy and mathematics.
