The Olmecs recapture Esteban and his companions, presenting them to Commander Menator. Slave girl Myena delivers Tao's jar, prompting Menator to demand its opening method, though Tao remains ignorant. Meanwhile, Mendoza, Pedro, and Sancho labor in a sewage pit before the children are placed in suspended animation. Mendoza overpowers their guard and, aided by Myena, sabotages the Olmec crystal machine. This chaos allows him to free the children from their freezing chambers. The group eventually reunites with Myena, who guides them toward an escape route from the mountain.
