Ep. 3: Chloé reveals her voluntary curse-bearer status while Dante discusses the d'Apchiers' research on the Alternate Engine.
Chloé explains to Noé that she accepted her role as a curse-bearer after Naenia granted her wish. Noé attempts to attack Naenia in retaliation for Louis's death, but Chloé intervenes and renders him unconscious. Concurrently, Dante informs Veritas that the d'Apchiers family was destroyed by the Beast while pursuing forbidden research on the World Formula. Their goal was to create an Alternate Engine to modify the formula responsible for the Beast of Gévaudan, despite opposition from the Church. Dante also discloses his allegiance to Sir Francis Varney and the Clockwork Fiend Marquis Machina, who desire the engine. Inside the castle, Chloé reflects on her family's legacy and her refusal to surrender the research to August Ruthven after the human-vampire war. She ultimately resolves to activate the Alternate Engine.
