Ep. 6: Jeanne struggles with duty while Vanitas seeks to save Chloé and Jean-Jacques from self-destruction.
Jeanne faces internal conflict regarding her duty as a bourreau to kill vampires Chloé and Jean-Jacques, while Vanitas urges her assistance in saving them. Astolfo regains consciousness and remembers how he and his sister befriended a vampire boy who later slaughtered their family and household in revenge for the Chasseurs' paladins killing his own relatives. Vanitas tasks Dante with locating a grimoire while he attempts to reactivate the Alternate Engine using blue tearstone, a specific form of astermite. Astolfo enters a rampage, slashing Jean-Jacques and viciously attacking Noé. Both Vanitas and the injured Jean-Jacques realize Chloé intended to destroy herself and Gévaudan castle. Jean-Jacques reaches out to Chloé, expressing his desire to be together forever, which causes her to revert to human form. Vanitas retrieves the grimoire and opens it to neutralize the self-destructive spell surrounding the castle.
