Ep. 7: Vanitas frees Chloé and Jean-Jacques from the Beast's curse to end Gévaudan's suffering
Vanitas learns the grimoire fails against malnomen unless a curse-bearer abandons the icy nether world, so he urges Chloé to reject this realm. While Noé defeats Astolfo at the cost of his left hand, Vanitas convinces Chloé to return to humanity. She reveals her true name, Canorus, meaning she who makes music with snow flowers, breaking her spell and covering the land in white petals. Now human, Chloé allows Jean-Jacques to ask Vanitas to free him as well so they can be together. Vanitas complies, revealing Jean-Jacques's name is Aprix, he who nestles up to the last snow. This finally frees Gévaudan from the Beast's curse. Overjoyed that Chloé is human again and no longer must kill her childhood friend, Jeanne is overcome with emotion and jumps on Vanitas to drink his blood.
