He visits Queen Antoinette at Trianon, pledging loyalty without rekindling romance, and advises her to leave Versailles and sever ties with Polignac. Oscar, distracted by her love for Fersen, disguises herself as a woman to attend a ball. Fersen dances with her, praising her as his most precious friend, unaware of her true identity. Oscar leaves the event in tears of joy, believing this moment allows her to finally abandon her life as a woman.
