Robespierre convinces Finance Minister Jacques Necker to persuade the King to approve the Assembly, aiming to prevent bloodshed. Antoinette remains confident in the Royal Family's power and orders 100,000 soldiers to suppress revolutionaries, telling Oscar she may soon join them. Oscar’s lung illness worsens, leading her to model for a portrait despite previous refusals. Soldiers clash with commoners, causing severe food shortages in Paris. Orleans demands Louis XVI's abdication and his own coronation but lacks support. Necker attempts to sway the King while Antoinette opposes him. Andre suspects Oscar's secret condition. Robespierre rejects Saint-Just's assassination request, sending Bernard to monitor him, though Saint-Just undermines Bernard's faith. Antoinette banishes Necker from Versailles, allowing Robespierre to spread propaganda about an impending massacre. Oscar begs Antoinette to withdraw troops, but she refuses. When Antoinette asks if Oscar would still protect her during a revolution, Oscar reveals she is no longer in the Royal Guards. Oscar departs in tears, knowing they will never meet again.
