Following a dream about his homeland and father, Thorfinn encounters Askeladd atop a hill for a conversation. A messenger from King Sweyn’s army arrives to inform Askeladd and his men that Thorkell has raided Prince Canute’s base and taken the prince captive. Askeladd reacts with delight to this development. He immediately kills the messenger and announces to his troops that they will proceed to rescue the captured prince.
