Ep. 4: Youta confronts his mother and a mysterious figure during a bean-throwing ritual.

Youta suspects his mother is colluding with a demon after observing shadows through her shouji screen at night. While his teacher explains the annual bean-throwing tradition to ward off evil spirits, Youta concludes his mother invites the demon due to loneliness, prompting him to protect her. He confronts his mother, blaming the demon for his father's absence, which results in her angry reprimand. Later, he approaches her room with soybeans and hears her speaking with a man concerned about Youta "catching on." Youta bursts in and throws beans in the dark until a crash occurs. Upon turning on the light, he finds the room empty and a broken window, suggesting someone jumped out, while sensing an odd sensation on his forehead.
