Yawara and Fujiko discuss Hanazono’s recent absence, with Fujiko noting he has not contacted her in two months. They lament male deceit, leading Yawara to confront Hanazono. She misinterprets his comment about lacking honor as infidelity, but he explains he is focusing entirely on becoming a starter for the Ebitendo judo team. Jigoro witnesses Yawara walking Hanazono home and wrongly assumes a romantic relationship. After the truth is revealed, Jigoro agrees to train Hanazono with Yawara’s assistance. Meanwhile, Fujiko receives misleading information from the Ebitendo dorms regarding Hanazono’s behavior. Matsuda encounters Hanazono and secures his promise to keep his training with the Inokuma family confidential.
