Teleshikova displays frightening power to earn a waza ari against Fujiko. Jigoro states he never taught Fujiko evasive maneuvers, leaving her to rely solely on her Swan Lake technique. She fails to overcome Teleshikova's uranage backflip and loses the match, though the stadium cheers her effort. Fujiko then faces South Korea's Kim Gyeong Suk in the third-place medal contest. She loses quickly to Kim, eliminating her chance to provide a lift to Yawara before Yawara's finals match against Khrushchev.
