Ep. 89: Shinnosuke’s Distraction and Yawara’s Victory Over Krushcheve
Aired on December 2, 1991

89
Shinnosuke ignores the Yawara finals for a blonde woman, while Matsuda struggles to bypass stadium guards. After being arrested, he is rescued by Jody. A taxi driver helps Matsuda cheer loudly, prompting Yawara to defeat Krushcheve with a quick ippon zeoi upon seeing him. Matsuda and Yawara search for the driver, who departed without charging the fare. Matsuda remains obsessed with judo, unaware of Yawara’s true feelings, which she does not mind. The free weight finals see Teleshikova defeat Canada’s Kristin Adams via uranage, a result Matsuda reports rather than witnesses. He continues his unsuccessful search for the taxi driver who aided him.
