Mahad utilizes the Millennium Ring to release his sealed abilities within an underground cavern that once served as a magician training academy. He traps Bakura, the Thief King, forcing a duel between Mahad’s Illusion Magician and Bakura’s strengthened Diabound. Although Mahad’s monster has grown stronger, Bakura’s Diabound remains superior and gains the advantage. Bakura triggers the tomb’s traps to defeat Mahad, who then fuses his soul with his spirit beast to become the Dark Magician. This transformation grants Mahad overwhelming power, allowing him to destroy Diabound despite Bakura’s shock. As the cavern collapses, Bakura seizes the Millennium Ring and barely escapes, while Mahad’s soul becomes sealed within a stone tablet originally intended for Diabound.
