Anxious about upcoming Shadow Rider duels, Jaden attempts to unwind at the Academy Hot Springs alongside Syrus, Chazz, and Chumley. The spirits of Winged Kuriboh, Ojama Yellow, and Des Koala emerge, pulling the group into the spirit world where duel monster spirits reside. There, they encounter Kaibaman, a spirit possessing the voice, form, and deck of Seto Kaiba. He challenges Jaden to a duel intended to restore Jaden's fighting spirit. Although Jaden fights bravely, he is defeated in the match. However, the experience successfully restores his confidence, preparing him for the remaining Shadow Riders. Following this encounter, Jaden and his friends are transported back to their own world.
