As Touko attempts to create a solution to neutralize the nightmares, the situation worsens, revealing a potential for flawless citywide fatalities. The case concludes with the shocking revelation that Keigo is a cold psychopath who chooses to be eaten by an energy dragon. Although the city is saved, Touko is left grappling with traumatic guilt over her father’s death at the hands of a nightmare.
