On a Friday evening in Akabane, a district where many office workers pause on their commute home, a middle-aged salaryman with a passion for horse racing stands alone at a standing bar working out his picks for the weekend's races. His solitary handicapping is interrupted when a young woman, carrying an oddly assured and seasoned manner, approaches and strikes up a lively conversation with him.
