Chidaruma Kenpou: Onorera ni Tsugu
Bloody Stumps Samurai·血だるま剣法・おのれらに告ぐ
Hirata created this work to express a strong critique of discrimination against Japan's burakumin, an outcaste community, through the story of Gennosuke, a young buraku seeking to avenge and elevate his people through the use of a sword. His efforts take a violent and tragic turn. Despite its intent as a message against prejudice, the work offended the Buraku Liberation League, resulting in the seizure and destruction of copies and a temporary ban on Hirata.
