Izou

Okada Izou is assigned to accompany Kaishuu Katsu, a military magistrate from the Tokugawa Shogunate, on a voyage to San Francisco aboard the Kanrin Maru. The trip is part of a Japanese delegation to finalize the Treaty of Amity and Commerce with the United States. Recommended by Ryoma, Izou is tasked with escorting Katsu. During a welcoming event, he is angered by the disrespectful behavior of Richardson, his patron, and causes a disturbance. This incident prompts Izou to decide to remain in the United States. He journeys from the West Coast to Washington, D.C., experiencing various events and meeting historical figures along the way.
