Bent on revenge, Puppetmon brings a platoon of Garbagemon to attack the DigiDestined. At that time, Matt encounters Cherrymon, another of Puppetmon's minion who plays on the human's insecurities that he will never change until he defeats the one holding him back: Tai. Though conflicted, Matt makes his decision after Gabumon promises to help his human partner in whatever choice he makes. As Matt and MetalGarurumon reach the other Digidestined, the latter taking out the last Garbagemon while demanding Agumon to warp digivolve to fight him, Puppetmon destroys Cherrymon after his servant attempted to warn him not to underestimate an advantage that the DigiDestined have over him.
