Amagai assigns the third division menial tasks to foster trust, but Kira suspects he intends to replace him with Kibune. During an evening investigation of an old execution ground with Shinta Seko, the trio falls into a pit containing caged hollows. After Kira and Kibune defeat the creatures, one absorbs Shinta. Kibune attempts to kill the hollow to save himself, citing Shinta's lack of skill, but Kira intervenes. Amagai arrives to reveal he orchestrated the entire event. The next morning, Lurichiyo enters the Kasumiouji family household. This segment is part of The New Captain Shuusuke Amagai arc, specifically item 5 out of 22.
