While Ichigo, Rukia, and Urahara investigate a sword beast attacking students, Kyouko Haida transfers to Karakura High School. She possesses the power to predict the future and know hidden information. Orihime attempts to befriend Kyouko, but learns that her best friend, Mai Suzuki, rejected her upon discovering this ability. A mouthless sword beast merges with Kyouko, attempting to take over her body to kill Mai. Ichigo, Rukia, and Orihime confront the entity. Orihime uses her healing powers to separate the beast from Kyouko, allowing Ichigo to defeat it with Getsuga Tenshou. Following the battle, Orihime and Kyouko become friends, with Orihime fully accepting Kyouko's unique abilities.
