Candy attempts to convince Franny of her nursing ambitions, but Franny’s prejudice persists, leading the group to shun her. Alistear and Annie inform Franny that Terry will perform in Chicago the next night. However, Candy is assigned her first night shift, which the head nurse refuses to change. Unable to abandon her patients, Candy accepts she cannot attend. Unaware to her, Eliza bribes Nathalie to stop Candy from going. Disgusted by this corruption, Nathalie volunteers for the shift despite her dislike of Candy. Meanwhile, Terry struggles with his emotions during the train ride to Chicago. He passes the station near Pony's Home and refuses to perform, rejecting the hypocrisy of charity shows with unaffordable ticket prices.
