Ep. 14: Light uses Misa to mislead L while Rem threatens him to protect her.

Light introduces Misa to Ryuk and discusses plans to eliminate L. He decides to exploit Misa’s affection for him to deceive L and advance his vision of a better world. Meanwhile, Misa’s shinigami Rem threatens to write Light’s name in her Death Note if Misa’s safety is jeopardized. L becomes confused by the second Kira, who releases audio tapes denouncing the police’s attempt to isolate the first Kira. This interference throws L off the trail. He eventually concludes that the two Kiras have likely met and are collaborating toward the same objective, complicating his investigation into the ongoing killings.
