L and Soichiro orchestrate a stunt where Soichiro attempts to kill Light and then himself to gauge their reactions. Based on their responses, L declares he no longer suspects them of being Kira, despite Misa’s DNA remaining on the audio tapes. Misa is released, while Light continues his work on the Kira case. L and Watari relocate the investigation team’s headquarters to a new building within the city. Meanwhile, Rem meets with a mysterious businessman regarding the Death Note. Subsequently, eight businessmen plan the next murder Kira will commit to help the Yotsuba Group excel in the market.
