Caiman battles sorcerers in The Hole while seeking the one who transformed him.

Caiman, a large man with a spiked lizard-like head, and his friend Nikaido fight two sorcerers in The Hole. Caiman kills one sorcerer after proving his immunity to magic, while Nikaido breaks the finger of the second, Fujita, who escapes through a magic door. Caiman and Nikaido return home, where Nikaido recalls being transformed by an unidentified sorcerer, though his memory is otherwise blank. Caiman has been shoving sorcerers into his mouth to find a hidden head that identifies him; if it says "you are not the one," he kills them. He hopes killing the original sorcerer will restore his human head. After working at a hospital for sorcerer victims, Caiman saves Nikaido from a rookie sorcerer transforming him into an insect. The next day, they photograph Caiman's mouth for clues when another magic door appears. Caiman attacks a female sorcerer, Ebisu, but Fujita drags her back before she can reveal what she saw. Ebisu escapes but loses her face. That night, Caiman has a nightmare about the person in his mouth, while Cleaners attack enemies.

Residents battle zombie experiments for metal plates while Kaiman and Nikaido face Shin and Noi.

During the annual Night of the Living Dead, Hole residents compete to collect metal plates from zombies risen by stray magic. Kaiman, Nikaido, and Vaux join the event, while Fujita has Noi heal Ebisu before Shin leads a group to hunt them. The hunters arrive during the festivities, leading to a confrontation where Ebisu is bitten. Shin and Noi defeat their targets, prompting Nikaido to use her magic to create a Door for escape. Five days later, Kaiman recovers in the hospital, but remains skeptical when Vaux reveals Nikaido is a sorcerer. Kaiman returns to the Hungry Bug, leaving Nikaido anxious about her past. Vaux then arrives with Kaiman’s severed head in a jar, as Kaiman had regrown it. The trio attempts an autopsy, but an invisible force cuts the power and steals the head.

En Family encounters a sorcerer's clone and a necromancer's secret while Caiman seeks identity in Hole.

The En Family visits sorcerer Turkey, whose clone leads them to an abandoned apartment containing a rotting head. Noi heals the head, revealing it belongs to a Cross-Eyes gang member. Later, En attends a formal party to recruit a necromancer but kills her after discovering she uses illegal black powder. The true resurrection ability stems from a small cat-like creature hidden under the woman's dress, which En adopts and names Kikurage. Meanwhile, in Hole, Caiman and Nikaido visit a doctor to help Caiman find his identity. They become lost in the doctor's home and share an impromptu New Year's Day meal. Doctor Kasukabe joins them and reveals a magic door constructed from vivisected sorcerers, which provides passage to their world.

Disguised as sorcerers, Caiman and Nikaido search for clues. At a restaurant, Nikaido receives a calling card from a demon, while Caiman recalls that the man in his mouth was Risu. En revives Cross-Eyes' head using Kikurage, revealing it is Risu, but interrogation yields little. En sends Shin and Noi to a Cross-Eyes base. After initial negotiation fails, Shin and Noi attack and kill the members. Caiman and Nikaido stalk a member but lose him until after the massacre. With few leads, Nikaido splits from Caiman. She sells powder at a magic smoke pawn shop, killing the owner to reclaim her magic. Nikaido then meets Asu, who reveals Risu is held by En. She breaks into En's mansion and encounters Noi, who challenges her to a fight.

Nikaido’s Escape, Shin’s Sorcerer Past, and the Sewer Kidnapping

Nikaido evades Noi and reaches Risu, but punching En shatters his mask, triggering a mushroom-spewing magic outburst. Risu flees using his prosthetic immunity, while Nikaido is injured by a mushroom sprouting from her back, forcing Caiman to take her to Vaux. Vaux and Kasukabe recognize Shin as a former patient. Flashbacks reveal sorcerers were hunted in Hole; Shin’s boss alerted vigilantes after he leaked magic dust. Shin killed the vigilantes who tortured his father, then surgically exposed his magic veins, paralyzing his arms. Vaux and Kasukabe saved him, treating victims Shin dismantled with his new power. Kasukabe identifies Nikaido as a sorcerer due to her anatomy. Caiman finds Nikaido abducted and pursues the kidnapper into the sewers. The kidnapper, mistaken for Johnson by a giant cockroach, dies from blood loss after realizing crystalized magic beads are not gemstones.

En purchases a magic pawn shop, prompting Shin and Noi to investigate where Ebisu sold powder. En admits he cannot find Fujita a partner, leading Fujita to Hole with a pistol to kill Caiman. Ebisu follows to help. A worker accidentally smashes Ebisu’s powder on Noi, causing her to scream. Vaux needs a ninth player for a baseball match against a rival hospital; Thirteen volunteers. Fujita joins the rival hospital as a pitcher with Ebisu as mascot. He sees Matsumura, reanimated by Kasukabe using electricity, as the first batsman. The rival hospital cheats, so Ebisu drugs their pitchers. Kasukabe uses Johnson, controlled by electro-shocking, to regain the lead. Fujita drinks a smoke-enhancing beverage, affecting ball speed. Nikaido bats the shot, concussing the director. Fujita escapes with Matsumura. Shin incapacitates a rampaging, reptilian Noi, getting maimed. Chota, obsessed with En, restores Noi. Ebisu, attacked by violent Matsumura, transforms into a dinosaur, crushing him.

Fujita brings Matsumura’s remains to Kikurage, who cannot restore him. Ebisu confirms she transforms objects into reptiles, recalling a man in Caiman’s mouth. Caiman quits his job to protect Nikaido, returning alone to the sorcerer world. There, he helps a pie-maker named Fukuyama, who hires him under bosses Tanba and Kirion. Risu returns to his apartment, remembering his death where a Cross-Eyes gang member stabbed him. He now fears running out of magic charge. En plans the Blue Night Festival, a multi-day event for sorcerers to find partners and sign binding contracts. Caiman sneaks in by stealing a uniform but gets distracted by work duties. Meanwhile, Noi is attacked by Baku, who uses magic to force her into a partnership with Shin.

Shin and Noi's Past Revealed as Risu Heals and En Targets Nikaido

Shin is sedated by Yaku after finding Noi missing, while Caiman and Tanba clash with Baku and Yaku. Fukuyama transforms Yaku into a meat pie, inadvertently saving Shin. Risu infiltrates the Blue Night Festival, freeing Noi from Baku’s chest and triggering her healing magic to restore her body. A flashback details Shin and Noi’s meeting ten years ago, where Noi healed Shin’s rotting arms before he fled. They later became friends, but Noi failed her demon ascension exam to save Shin after he was fatally injured by Baku and Yaku. En then paired them as partners. In the present, Noi renews their contracts before the festival ends. Fujita realizes Ebisu was his applicant, while En identifies Nikaido as the pawn shop attacker and uses a voodoo doll to summon a mushroom familiar from Nikaido’s scar during Vaux’s birthday party.

Nikaido and Johnson escape a familiar attack, but Nikaido retrieves her mask from a flashback trap that drops them into En's mansion. Chidaruma reveals Nikaido's time magic, forcing her into a contract against her will. Shin and Noi renew their contracts, but Fujita fails to sign with Ebisu due to illness. Meanwhile, Caiman suffers nightmares and is followed by Tanba, who reveals Caiman is a victim, not a sorcerer. Tanba takes Caiman to a death row prisoner seeking Fukuyama's pie. Caiman swallows the prisoner, who identifies Risu inside, before being dragged to Hell. Asu saves Caiman and warns that Nikaido is imprisoned. En demands a new mask for Nikaido, while Kasukabe, Johnson, Thirteen, and Vaux escape the dungeon, leading to a standoff where Shin pins Kasukabe.

Shin identifies Kasukabe as his savior and moves his group to a safe-house, refusing to release Nikaido despite pleas. Inside En's mansion, Chota mentors Nikaido but attempts to kill her under the guise of survival training. He then shows her a film detailing En's history: his infant magic turned his parents into mushrooms, leading to trafficking for sorcerer smoke. En survived being thrown into Hell, was named by demon Chidaruma, and returned to liberate sorcerers. After two decades, his lieutenants died to a cross-tattooed assassin. En attacked the killer, blacked out, and woke to a mushroom-filled neighborhood known as the Death Shroom Incident. En needs Nikaido's time powers to verify if the assassin survived. Meanwhile, Caiman, disguised as a mascot, competes in a pie cook-off against ex-wife Asuka. Asuka enchants her pies to distract customers, allowing Caiman to abduct Nikaido. She resists, declaring her desire to stay with En, unaware of the contract's influence. Caiman warns he will rescue her by force if necessary.

School memories, a battle between boy and girl, and a pinky promise

Risu recalls his past conflict with Aikawa over the Cross-Eyes gang, driven by his inability to produce magic smoke and hope for Berith research. In the present, he seeks his killer in Berith while Caiman endures a brutal beating from Nikaido, who confirms her sorcerer status. After Caiman collapses, Nikaido is stabbed by an unknown assailant. Asu retrieves En’s contract from Nikaido’s wound, explaining that proximity to En causes regrowth, with death or the next Blue Night as solutions. Caiman, suffering amnesia, recalls a hospital dream where Nikaido suggested his name. In the present, Caiman swallows Nikaido, learning Risu is in Berith. Asu opens a portal, transforming Chota into Nikaido’s doppelgänger to buy time. They hide in a ruined subway, where Nikaido reveals her time magic killed a friend, leading her to protect humans in Hole. They agree to remain friends.
