Hyakkimaru and Dororo encounter a wild dog that transforms into the Thunder-fire Dog, pushing Hyakkimaru into a river. A villager rescues him and warns of the demon dog while passing a man abusing his pet. The demon dog approaches Dororo and Nota, showing friendliness toward Nota. Hyakkimaru confronts the creature, but Nota intervenes, causing the dog to leave. Hyakkimaru notes the bond between dogs. In the village, the cruel man forces his dog to fight for money, angering Dororo. Dororo poisons the fighting dogs' food, preventing the next day's matches. The Thunder-fire Dog arrives, and Hyakkimaru kills it without joy, respecting the possessed animal. Dororo understands Nota's feelings and leaves flowers at the grave.
