Dororo accepts a high-paying babysitting position for a village leader, but Hyakkimaru senses a nearby demon. The villagers honor Dororo as the new caregiver while Hyakkimaru falls into a trap. At night, the villagers bind Dororo to a Jizo statue that demands a lullaby or strangulation, followed by a piggy-back ride to the next village. Hyakkimaru escapes the trap and pursues the statue and its spider-like demon inhabitant. He defeats the creature, causing his backbone to regenerate into place.
