Cornered by Rin, Shirō refuses to surrender his Command Seals, leading to a fight interrupted by an unconscious girl. Shirō blocks a dagger aimed at Rin, injuring himself, then repels an attack from the Rider-class Servant. Despite considering summoning Saber, he chooses to face Rider alone until Rin saves him. The pair establish a temporary truce to locate Rider's Master. Rin becomes angry upon discovering that Kiritsugu prioritized fatherhood over magus duties during Shirō's training. Later, Archer escorts Shirō home, criticizing his ideals and warning that Saber will resent being kept from battle due to Shirō's protective nature.
