During the journey to Earth, Julian and Poplan discuss the planet's past. The narrative begins with the 13 Day War between Earth factions in 2039 AD. A nuclear exchange follows, leading to the unification of all governments on Earth in 2129 AD. Humanity then expands into the stars, but the lack of autonomy for colonies, unequal economic policies, and tyranny from the Earth government cause multiple conflicts and human rights violations. These chaotic struggles eventually result in the creation of the Galactic Republic in 2801, causing Earth to be forgotten.
