Upon arrival at the Spherical Housing Complex, a settlement of spherical dwellings, Maetel is immediately abducted by the Chief. This ruler resides in a castle in the sky and faces no opposition from men in the area. During his attempt to rescue her, Tetsuro meets a man who appears to be an older version of himself named Tetsugoro Hoshino. The narrative focuses on the initial abduction and the mysterious encounter with this doppelganger as Tetsuro navigates the complex to save Maetel from the Chief's grasp.
