Ep. 14: Shinsengumi Protects Frog Amanto Amidst Political Turmoil and Assassination Attempt

Gintoki and Katsura crash the space pirate vessel, prompting antiforeigner groups to target corrupt officials linked to illegal drug deals with pirates and Amantos. The Shinsengumi is assigned to guard these figures, with Kondou insisting on their duty despite his team's visible anger toward the tainted government and aliens. During the operation, Kondou is shot by assassins while shielding a specific frog Amanto they were ordered to protect. This violent incident pushes the Shinsengumi members to the brink of rebellion against their superiors. Just as their frustration threatens to erupt into open conflict, Hijikata begins shouting, interrupting the escalating tension within the ranks.
