Gintoki and Hasegawa visit a casino to earn easy money but quickly lose their belongings, ending up in loincloths. They blame evil spirits for their bad luck. Renowned gambler Kanbe, known as the Luck Reader, arrives and helps them recover their clothes. Inspired by his suave demeanor, the pair attempts blackjack but loses their attire once more. Kanbe assists them again, and after hearing his personal history, Gintoki and Hasegawa discover the true source of his exceptional fortune.
