To cover damages from Sadaharu's rampage, Ane sacrifices her savings and shrine, taking a job at Cabaret Smile where she attracts male customers. Her success clashes with fellow employee Otae, leading to tension. After Otae assaults Kikuya's owner, the manager declares that the employee with the lowest sales the next day will be fired. This sets the stage for a fierce competition between the two women. However, Otae later informs Ane that she intends to withdraw from the contest, raising suspicions that this refusal might be a strategic maneuver rather than a genuine surrender.
