Stag beetle wrestling gains popularity in Edo, prompting Kagura to enter her beloved dung beetle, Sadaharu 28, into a tournament. Okita of the Shinsengumi interrupts the event and defeats Kagura using a jumbo stag beetle. Upon learning that these insects command high prices, Gintoki decides to venture into the forest to catch some for profit. Kagura joins him, motivated by a desire to avenge Sadaharu 28. The group travels to the woods, only to discover that the Shinsengumi are already present, frantically searching for stag beetles in the same area.
