Shinsengumi inspector Yamazaki reports to Hijikata regarding the conflict between the Katsura Faction and Takasugi Faction, noting sightings of Jacks-of-all-trades. Suspecting Gintoki’s ties to the Antiforeigner Faction, Hijikata orders an investigation into Gintoki’s activities. Yamazaki questions Gintoki’s friends but fails to extract useful information. Desperate for leads, he visits the Jacks-of-all-trades, who are absent. However, he learns that Gintoki is currently receiving medical treatment at Shinpachi’s house, providing a new direction for his inquiry into the suspected connections.
