The Jockey Club chairman employs Golgo 13 to eliminate a racehorse falsely marketed as a thoroughbred. Ashamed of the deception, the chairman previously attempted to have his niece, Celia, kill the animal. However, Celia has raised the horse and, seeing its consistent racing victories, becomes fiercely protective of it. Realizing she might sacrifice herself to save the horse, the chairman reveals he hired the assassin, knowing Golgo 13 will eventually target him. After failing to convince the chairman to halt the contract, Celia attempts to snipe Golgo 13 before he can shoot the horse. Her efforts fail against his superior skill. Once the horse is dead and aware his involvement is exposed, Golgo 13 proceeds to hunt down the chairman.
