Ep. 1: The Elric brothers encounter Father Cornello in Lior after a past human transmutation failure.

Edward and Alphonse Elric recall their failed attempt to resurrect their mother, which cost Al his body and Ed his limbs. In the present, they reach Lior and learn of Father Cornello’s miracles. Suspecting he uses a philosopher’s stone to bypass equivalent exchange, the brothers investigate. Cornello orders Cray to eliminate them, and Rosé flees in terror after seeing Alphonse. Cornello attacks with a chimera and a giant bird. Edward defends himself using his automail limbs, revealing his mechanical nature. Cornello recognizes Edward as the Fullmetal Alchemist and realizes the brothers committed the ultimate sin of human transmutation.
