Ep. 8: Alphonse and Edward battle soul-bound armor opponents at the fifth laboratory while their automail fails.
At the fifth laboratory, Alphonse fights Barry the Chopper outside while Edward battles Slicer inside. Both opponents are revealed to be murderer souls attached to armor. Edward struggles as his automail arm malfunctions due to a missing bolt from Resembool. Alphonse gains the upper hand until Barry claims he is merely a doll created for Edward. Edward faces brothers controlling separate armor parts and defeats Slicer using Scar's technique. Before he can extract information, Lust and Envy kill the brothers. Envy knocks Edward unconscious after his arm breaks. Outside, Barry nearly defeats Alphonse until Brosh and Ross arrive. Lust and Envy destroy the lab to hide evidence of the philosopher's stone, carrying Edward out to hand him over to Brosh and Ross, noting his value.
