Sara is confined with a man, kills him after an assault, and escapes Hellywood by cutting her hair and entering the desert. Meanwhile, Tabool argues that Shu’s pacifism disqualifies him from drinking water, a stance Nabuca counters. The Hellywood army assaults the village, forcibly conscripting women and children. Shu defies orders to free the captives, prompting Nabuca to shoot him in the leg to stop his interference. During the return journey to the fortress, Nabuca experiences guilt and empathy for his role in seizing innocent victims.
