Inuyasha and his companions learn from an old man about a village where women toss corpses into a marsh. They assist Shinnosuke in searching for his lost love, Wakana, and spend the night in the village. Miroku and Sango recall their time at Mount Hakurei. Miroku is lured to a shrine by flirtation, while Sango is captured by an oni head and shackled in a cave. She is forced to swallow a salamander egg to be possessed. Meanwhile, Shinnosuke reunites with Wakana, unaware of the dangers ahead.
