Kagome and Akitoki drift away from a waterfall, leaving Inuyasha to face Hoshiyomi, the ninja yōkai master who owns the Kon Blade. Meanwhile, Miroku, Sango, and Shippo search for the separated pair. After resting in the woods, Kagome encounters four ninja yōkai using demon puppets disguised as her classmates' ancestors. She destroys these puppets with her Sacred Arrows but is subsequently captured by the ninja yōkai as a hostage. Inuyasha interrogates Hoshiyomi about his motives for seeking the Ken Blade during this conflict.
