Hoshiyomi wields the complete Naginata of Kenkon, driven mad by its demonic power after originally seeking to fight alongside Tsukiyomi. The spirit of Tsukiyomi returns to possess Kagome, aiming to reason with her former lover. In the past, Tsukiyomi had sealed Hoshiyomi in a shrine and split the halberd, but Hoshiyomi killed him in retaliation for betrayal. Akitoki confesses his unrequited love for Kagome while defending her from Hoshiyomi’s attack. Tsukiyomi then grants Inuyasha and Kagome the opportunity to permanently destroy the cursed weapon and end the threat once and for all.
