The Infant half guarded by Kagura transforms into Hakudoshi, the eighth incarnation of Naraku. Inuyasha and his companions pursue Entei to Rengokuki, who has risen from his grave, but retreat after Inuyasha overpowers them. Rengokuki proposes marriage to Kagura, who declines. Hakudoshi arrives, ending Entei's rampage and slaughtering Rengokuki to become its new master. The group encounters Hakudoshi, who seeks a remaining Shikon Jewel shard in the Netherworld before escaping. Later, Kagome and Shippo are attacked by a headless demon, leading Inuyasha to deduce Hakudoshi's responsibility for the incident.
