Inuyasha and his companions encounter Kanta, an otter yōkai seeking to reattach his father's head severed by Hakudoshi. Hakudoshi is shown observing the Netherworld, a realm of white mist and giant bones, while holding demon heads. Kanta's headless father visits a village but frightens residents by resembling Sesshomaru. The group attempts to restore the father but fails. Sesshomaru eventually uses his Tenseiga to successfully revive Kanta's father, allowing the family to reunite.
