While Inuyasha and his group travel to visit Jinenji, Jaken is attacked and poisoned by the Saimyōshō. He instructs Rin to locate a medicinal herb in Jinenji's village before sunset to cure his condition. A weakened Saimyōshō leads Sesshomaru to the village, hoping to find Naraku. Rin successfully finds the herb on a mountain cliff, where Sesshomaru later catches up to her. As dusk arrives, Jaken receives the herb and is restored to health. This sequence occurs while the other companions are en route to Jinenji, highlighting the parallel efforts of Rin and Sesshomaru in the area.
